Kayaker Rescued On North Fork: Police

CUTCHOGUE, NY — A man was rescued after he fell off his kayak into the Long Island Sound off the coast of Cutchogue Friday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Thomas Yannios, 65, of Cutchogue, became separated from his kayak at 4:04 p.m. a quarter mile off of Duck Pond Point.

Southold bay constables, Southold Town Police, and the Southold Fire Department responded, police said.

Southold Fire Department launched their vessel from the beach, reached Yannios, and brought him ashore; he was checked by Southold Fire Department first responders and released at the scene, police said.
