Kitchen Fire Breaks Out at Scrimshaw in Greenport: Police
BREAKING: The fire was put out with a dry chemical extinguisher, police said.

GREENPORT, NY — A kitchen fire at the Scrimshaw Restaurant in Greenport was extinguished early Sunday, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the fire broke out at 1:06 a.m. at Scrimshaw, located on Main Street in Greenport.
The Sterling Alarm Company reported the fire; Southold Town Police were able to gain entry and extinguish the fire using a dry chemical fire extinguisher, police said.

Greenport Fire Chief Wayne Miller requested Suffolk County Arson to investigate the fire but Detective LaMonica of the Suffolk County Arson squad found no evidence of criminality, police said.
The case is under further investigation by the Southold Town Police detectives, police said.
