LI Man Dies After Fall From Roof At Residential Construction Site: PD

ORIENT, NY — A Shirley man died after falling off the roof at a residential construction site in Orient Wednesday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 8:55 a.m. at the home on Orchard Street. Police, along with Orient Fire Department rescue, responded after a report that a man had fallen about 13 feet off the roof.

Salomon Cruz-Jiminez, 39, was found unconscious and not breathing with no pulse, police said. CPR was initiated, and he was transported to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital by Orient Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained from the fall, police said.

The incident was deemed accidental and turned over to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for any further investigation, police said.
