LONG ISLAND, NY — Long Island is set for another burst of snow Friday.

According to Brian Ciemnecki, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Upton, snow is expected to begin falling across Long Island Friday in the early morning hours, continuing throughout the day until tapering off Friday evening.

Accumulation is expected to be between 2 and 3 inches on Long Island, he said.

Temperatures are slated to be in the lower 30s Friday, he added.

"The difference with this system and the last is we had some warmer air in the upper atmosphere that warmed things up and transitioned to rain with the last storm. We're not anticipating that this time — we're anticipating an all-snow event," Ciemnecki said.

Neither wind nor flooding should pose a problem this time around, he added.

The weekend is expected to be dry, with the temperatures on Saturday in the mid-20s and a little warmer on Sunday, in the mid-30s. Overnight temperatures on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night are expected to drop into the teens, he said.

The coming week will bring warmer temperatures, beginning with the mid to upper 30s on Monday and then, up to the middle 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday, Ciemnecki said.
