Local Auto Body Shop Seized For Non-Payment Of Taxes

PECONIC, NY — A local auto body shop was seized for non-payment of taxes, according to bright orange notices posted on its windows.

First Class Auto Body, located at 41965 New York State Route 25 in Peconic, was closed Thursday and "seized for nonpayment of taxes and is now in possession of the State of New York," the notice read. "Any person who attempts to tamper or interfere with this property will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law."

A letter from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance was also posted.

Attempts to reach the owner of the property were not immediately successful.
