Local Bicyclist Struck By Car in East Marion: Police

BREAKING: The accident took place on Route 25 in East Marion Tuesday, police said.

EAST MARION, NY — A Greenport bicyclist was injured after being struck by a car on Route 25 in East Marion, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the accident took place Tuesday at 12:41 pm. when Kenneth T. Finne, 51, was struck by driver George H. Fitzpatrick, 74, of Orient, who was traveling east.

Finne is believed to have been in the eastbound shoulder of the roadway, police said. Finne was transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital and then moved to Stony Brook University Hospital for further treatment, police said.

Fitzpatrick was uninjured in the collision, police said.

No criminal charges are expected, but the case is still under investigation by police detectives, police said.

Police did not have any medical updates on Finne, who remained hospitalized at Stony Brook University Hospital Wednesday.
