Long Island Apple Picking Guide 2018
What's better than a day apple picking, and coming home to make delicious fritters and pies? Here's a guide to apple picking on Long Island.

After months of anticipation, one of the true harbingers of the glorious harvest season is ready to unfold, as Long Islanders gather up their baskets and head out for a favorite family fall activity — apple picking.
Patch has put together a comprehensive list of where to go for U-pick orchards, as well as apple festivals and other fun activities.
Remember to call ahead or check the orchard's website to clarify hours of operation or to check for availability of apples and other produce.

- 240 Montauk Highway in Water Mill.
- Apple picking at Hank's Pumpkintown starts Sept. 8 and runs until Halloween. Apple picking is open Saturdays, Sundays and select school holidays — school holidays are Sept. 10, 11, 19 and Oct. 8 — from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- 5698 Sound Avenue in Riverhead
- Harbes Farm offers apple picking from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 28. Apple picking is also available on Sept. 3 (Labor Day), Sept. 10 and 11 (Rosh Hashanah), Wednesday, Sept. 19 (Yom Kippur) and Oct. 8 (Columbus Day).
- Harbes Orchard Apple Festival takes place Sept. 8 and 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is free.

- Pick your own apples at Lewin Farms is available daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. starting Sept. 1 through October. Call (631)-929-4327 prior to making your trip to make sure Pick Your Own apples are available.

- 50 Horsemill Lane in Water Mill
- Milk Pail Farmstand's apple picking season begins Labor Day weekend and runs through October. The farm is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (and holidays). For more information, click here.
- 65 Seven Ponds Road in Water Mill
- Open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Apple picking kicked off on Aug. 26 and runs through October. Call the orchard at (631) 726-8015 before coming and to find out which apples they have ready for picking. For additional information, check out their Facebook page.
- 28700 Route 25 in Cutchogue
- Apple U pick begins on Sept. 7.
- Open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Sundays.

- U-pick is open on weekends now and during the fall season from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Harvest weekends.
