Long Island Apple Picking Guide 2019
A beloved family tradition, apple picking season is in full swing on Long Island. Here's a guide of the best spots — don't miss the fun.

There's nothing that signals the start of fall — of warm, cozy nights by the fire and pies baking in the oven — than a day of apple picking on Long Island.
Patch has put together a comprehensive list of where to go for U-pick orchards, as well as apple festivals and other fun activities.
Remember to call ahead or check the orchard's website to clarify hours of operation or to check for availability of apples and other produce.

Where to go apple picking on Long Island:

- 240 Montauk Highway in Water Mill.
- Apple picking at Hank's Pumpkintown started Sept. 7 and runs until Halloween. Apple picking is open Saturdays, Sundays and select school holidays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. School holidays are Sept. 30, Oct. 1, Oct. 9 and Oct. 14.

- 5698 Sound Avenue in Riverhead
- Harbes Farm offers apple picking from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Sunday, Oct. 27. Apple picking is also available Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashanah and Columbus Day.
- Harbes Orchard Apple Festival takes place Sept. 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is free.

- Pick your own apples at Lewin Farms is available daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. starting late August through October. Call (631)-929-4327 prior to making your trip to make sure Pick Your Own apples are available.

- 50 Horsemill Lane in Water Mill
- Milk Pail Farmstand's apple picking season runs through October. The farm is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (and holidays). For more information, click here.
- 65 Seven Ponds Road in Water Mill
- Open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- Farmstand open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Sundays. U-Pick Friday and Saturday only, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

- U-pick is open on weekends now and during the fall season from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Harvest weekends.

- U Pick will open third week in September. For information on U pick hours and dates, call (631) 722-5770 or send a message to their Facebook page.
- 30 Meadow Glen Road in Northport
- Sadly, one popular spot won't be open for the 2018 apple season, which has been canceled, according to a notice to visitors online. "There is no fruit," the farm's website said. "Weather, deer, etc. make it impossible for us to open."
