Lucharitos to Honor Vets with Free Meal Friday

GREENPORT, NY — Those who have given the greatest sacrifice to their country are welcomed with open arms Friday at Lucharitos in Greenport, where they can receive a free meal.

"All of us at Lucharitos humbly thank those who have served and are currently serving our country," owner Marc LaMaina said.

On Veterans Day, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., veterans can order any burrito, quesadilla, nacho or any three tacos, "and it will be our honor to VIP comp it. It is the least we can do," he said.

LaMaina's father is a Vietnam vet, his brother is a captain in the Merchant Marines, and he has close friends serving overseas, he said.

"This is just a simple and minuscule attempt for us to show them that we care and we love them. This isn't a marketing scheme. It's a 'thanks for putting your life on the line for this country scheme'. And it's our honor to even be in the situation to give a little back to these men and women," he said.

Lucharitos is located 119 Main Street in Greenport.
