Man Acting 'Suspiciously' In Woods Caught With Controlled Substance: Cops

The man was seen acting suspiciously in the woods, police said.

GREENPORT, NY — A man acting "suspiciously" in the woods in Greenport was caught with a controlled substance, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place Wednesday at 7:17 p.m. on Route 25 and Moores Lane in Greenport, when an officer observed Paul Lutz, 24, of Cutchogue "acting suspiciously" in the woods.

Lutz was interviewed and found to be in possession of a controlled substance, concentrated cannabis, police said.

He was arrested and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, police said.

Lutz was transported to Southold Police headquarters, processed, and held for arraignment, police said.
