Man Arrested After Altercation In Parking Lot: Cops

MATTITUCK, NY — A verbal dispute led to a physical altercation in the parking lot of Magic Fountain in Mattituck recently, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Steven A. Batih, 39, of Wantagh, was arrested on Oct. 7 at 11:20 p.m. after he and another man were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical when Batih and a friend attacked the man in the parking lot.

The man suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention; Batih was arrested, charged with second degree harassment, a violation, and transported to headquarters, where he was released on bail, police said. Batih's friend fled the scene and has not been identified, police said.
