Man Arrested After Speeding Through School Zone, Fleeing, Hiding From Police: PD
He abandoned the car and hid on the beach, police say.
GREENPORT, NY — An East Marion man was arrested after he sped through the Greenport school zone, fled, and hid from officers, police said.
According to Southold Town police, the incident took place on March 11 at 9:22 a.m. on Route 25 in Greenport.
Southold officers observed a white Ford pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed through the Greenport school zone, police said. Officers attempted to perform a traffic stop but the driver refused to stop and fled from the area, police said.

The vehicle was located, abandoned, at the end of Maple Lane in East Marion, police said.
Michael Zervos, 59, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was located hiding on the beach on Maple Lane, police said.

He was arrested and charged with third-degree unlawful fleeing and second-degree obstruction of government administration, police said.
