Man Arrested In Orient After Police Receive License Plate Alerts Regarding Stolen Vehicle: PD

ORIENT, NY — A Massachusetts man was arrested after he was found with a vehicle that was not his own in Orient, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the incident took place on May 29 at 11:25 a.m. on Main Road in Orient.

Police said they received several license plate reader/flock, or LPR, alerts regarding a stolen vehicle from the Suffolk County Police Department's 1st precinct area, that was being operated within Southold Town.

The vehicle was located and stopped by Southold Town police patrol units on Route 25 in Orient, authorities said.

Upon further investigation, Michael Inferrera,48, of Cohasset, MA, was found to be operating the vehicle, police said.

He was placed under arrest and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, a misdemeanor, police said.
