Man Caught Burglarizing Greenport Pharmacy: Police

GREENPORT, NY — A Greenport man was arrested after he was caught burglarizing a pharmacy in the village, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the incident took place Tuesday at 8:38 p.m. at Colonial Pharmacy on Front Street.

Southold Police patrol units responded to a report of a possible break in at the pharmacy, authorities said.

When officers arrived, Juan Lopez, 49, was found in the building, police said.

Lopez was able to flee the scene on foot and after a foot pursuit, he was apprehended and taken into custody, police said.

Lopez was found to be in possession of proceeds from the pharmacy; he was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, illegal entry with intent; and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

Lopez was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
