Man Caught With Heroin, Hypodermic Needles: Police

He had several wax paper envelopes with heroin, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A Holbrook man was caught with heroin and hypodermic needles during a traffic stop in Southold Town Friday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Stephen Hannay, 32, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. on Route 25 in Southold and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and possession of a hypodermic incident, police said.

During the traffic stop, Hannay was found to be in possession of several wax paper envelopes containing an off-white powdery substance that tested positive for heroin, police said.

Hannay was also in possession of multiple hypodermic needles, one which contained an off white liquid, police said.

Hannay was arrested, transported to Southold Town Police headquarters for processing and held for arraignment, police said.
