Man Caught With More Than Half Ounce of Heroin, Cocaine in Drug Bust: Police
The man also lied about his identity, police said.
GREENPORT, NY - A Greenport man caught with more than a half ounce of heroin and crack cocaine in a bust by the East End Drug Task Force Tuesday lied about his identity, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, Kareem Austin, 27, was arrested at 9 a.m. at a home on Third Street, when Southold police and members of the Suffolk County District Attorney's East End Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the residence.
The search was assisted by the Suffolk County emergency services section and the Southold Police K-9 unit, police said.

Kareem Austin, who lives at the residence, was found to be in possession of more than a half ounce of heroin, a quantity of crack cocaine and various other drug paraphernalia, police said.
Austin identified himself as another and presented officers with a forged out of state license, police said.

He was arrested, transported to Southold police headquarters and is being held pending his arraignment in Southold Justice Court, police said.
He was charged with two felony counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, false personation, second degree felony counts of forgery, second degree possession of a forged instrument, and first degree offering a false instrument for filing, police said.
The East End Drug Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional drug enforcement unit funded by the office of Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota. The task force includes detectives, police officers, and law enforcement personnel from the New York State Police, the Suffolk County Police Department, District Attorney Detective-Investigators, the Suffolk County Department of Probation, Southampton Town Police Department, Riverhead Police Department, East Hampton Town Police Department, East Hampton Village Police Department, Southampton Village Police Department, Southold Police Department, Suffolk County Sheriff's Office and the United States Department of Homeland Security.
