Man Charged With Boating While Intoxicated In Greenport: Police
He also had no registration numbers on his inflatable vessel, police said.
GREENPORT, NY — A Connecticut man was charged with boating while intoxicated in Greenport Saturday, police said.
According to Southold Town police, the incident took place at 6:56 p.m. in Greenport harbor. Vincent R. Pontarelli, 38, of Pomfret Center, was arrested and charged with BWI; he was also issued summonses for failing to have registration numbers, police said.
While conducting a boating while intoxicated special patrol, the Southold Town police department's marine unit observed a small inflatable vessel, with the operator fishing in Greenport Harbor and no registration numbers displayed, police said.

The operator, Pontarelli ,was escorted to Mitchell Park Marina, where after further investigation, he was found to be intoxicated, police said.
He was transported to Southold Town police headquarters, processed, and held for a morning arraignment, police said.
