Man Charged With Boating While Intoxicated On North Fork: Cops

He was speeding and operating the boat in an "unsafe, erratic" manner, police say.

GREENPORT, NY — A man was charged with boating while intoxicated in Greenport Sunday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Alexander Haddad was arrested at 3:15 p.m. on Front Street near Mitchell Park and charged with BWI — operating a vessel with a BAC of .08 of 1%, 1st/2nd offense — speeding and reckless operation, and operating an unregistered vessel, as well as having no visual distress flag/flare signals, authorities said.

Haddad was observed speeding out of Greenport Harbor operating in an unsafe erratic manner; he was escorted back to Mitchell Park Marina where he was arrested, police said.
