Man Charged With Criminal Sex Act With Child Under 13: Police

MATTITUCK, NY — A man was arrested Wednesday and charged with engaging in a criminal sex act with a child under 13 in Mattituck last year, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Byron Lazaros-Santos, 26, of Blue Point/Mattituck was arrested at 6:53 a.m. and charged with one count of criminal sex act with a child under 13 and one count of acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17.

After an investigation into a Suffolk County Child Protective Services referral, Lazaro-Santos was arrested by detectives and Crime Reduction Unit officers without incident, police said.

The arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred in July, 2021 at a residence on Old Sound Ave in Mattituck, police said.
