Man Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Southold Street Sign: PD
He was arrested Thursday, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — An East Marion man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a single-car crash in Southold Thursday afternoon, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, Santos Gonzalez Garcia, 45, of East Marion, was arrested on Route 48 at 3:31 p.m. and charged with DWI, first offense; operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 of 1 percent, first offense; leaving the scene of a crash with property damage; third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; and driving without a licens.
Gonzalez Garcia, police said, was driving a black Toyota RAV4 and failing to maintain his lane while heading east on County Road 48; he was then involved in the single car crash, hitting a street sign at the intersection of Boisseau Avenue and County Road 48, police said.

Gonzalez Garcia was found to be intoxicated at the scene and was placed under arrest; he was transported to Southold Police Department headquarters to await arraignment, police said.
