Man Charged With DWI After Hitting Parked Vehicle: Police
A resident reported him idling in his vehicle outside their house for an extended period, police say.

NORTH FORK, NY — A Mattituck man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after he struck a parked vehicle, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 11:51 p.m. on April 4 on Sigsbee Road in Mattituck. Jose Chavarria, 37, was arrested and charged with DWI, first offense; operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 of 1 percent, first offense; drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway; and refusal to take a breath test, police said.
Southold Town Police said they received a report of a suspicious vehicle idling in front of a caller's residence for an extended time period.

The vehicle was located, Chavarria was identified as the driver and sole occupant, and officers determined that his vehicle had struck a parked vehicle, police said.
Chavarria failed standardized field sobriety tests and was found to be intoxicated; he was arrested, transported to the Southold Town Police Department for processing, and held pending arraignment, police said.
