Man Charged With DWI After Leaving Scene Of Crash: Police
He was found a short distance away from the crash and arrested, police said.
MATTITUCK, NY — A Mattituck man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after leaving the scene of a crash, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place on July 18 at 3:09 p.m. on Bergen Avenue in Mattituck. Mario Lopez Ramos, 59, was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI: per se, no prior; DWI, first offense; leaving the scene of a crash with property damage; and driving with no license, police said.
Lopez Ramos left the scene of the crash and officers located him a short distance away, police said. Lopez admitted to being the sole occupant and operator of the vehicle, was found to be intoxicated, placed under arrest, and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters where he was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
