MATTITUCK, NY — A Calverton man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a two-vehicle crash in Mattituck Wednesday night, a representative for Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.

According to the DA's office, Bartosz Debowski, 43, was driving a 2021 Dodge Ram pickup when he reportedly ran a stop sign and was T-boned by a 2001 Chevy pickup at the intersection of Mill Road and County Road 48 at 7:22 p.m.

The driver of the pickup was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries, the DA's office said.

Debowski refused a Breathalyzer test; he was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital where he also refused a blood test, the DA said. A warrant was sought and obtained for that test and the results are still pending, the DA's office said.

Debowski was arraigned virtually at the hospital and placed on supervised release with alcohol conditions; his next court date is January 12, the DA's office said.
