Man Charged With DWI After Running Over Curb Onto Front Lawn: Police

He was arrested early Sunday, police say.

PECONIC, NY — A man was charged with driving while intoxicated in Peconic after he jumped a curb and drove onto someone's front lawn early Sunday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 2:35 a.m. on Route 48 when Derby Perez Mijangos, 28, drove his 1996 Toyota 4Runner over the curb and onto the lawn.

He had multiple open containers in the vehicle and failed standardized field sobriety tests, police said. He was arrested and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters for processing, police said.
