Man Charged With DWI After Southold Crash: Police

He was arrested Sunday in Southold, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY —A Southold man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash Sunday, police said.

According to Southold Town police, the arrest took place at 4:03 p.m. on Main Bayview Road in Southold. Pedro Guzman Mejia, 56, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 of 1 percent, first offense; and DWI, first offense, police said.

Police said they responded to a report of motor vehicle cash in the area of Tuckers Lane and Route 25; a 2006 Ford Fusion was located traveling eastbound on Route 25 and was stopped, police said.

Upon further investigation, the driver, Guzman Mejia, was found to be driving while intoxicated, police said.

He was arrested and transported to Southold Town police headquarters for processing, authorities said.
