Man Charged With DWI In Greenport: Cops
He was also driving unlicensed in an unregistered vehicle, police say.
GREENPORT, NY — A Greenport man was charged with driving while intoxicated Wednesday, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 3:50 p.m. at the intersection of Knapp Pl. and Main St. Jesus Mendoza, 21, was arrested and charged with DWI, first offense; operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 1%, first offense; driving without a license; and driving an unregistered vehicle without insurance or proper plates, police said.
Southold Police said they received a complaint about Mendoza driving a gray 2002 Volkswagen Jetta, possibly in an intoxicated condition, while heading toward Main Rd. from the Village of Greenport. An officer located the vehicle matching the description and confirmed Mendoza to be the driver, police said. Mendoza was found to be intoxicated at the scene and was placed under arrest, charged, and transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.
