Man Charged With DWI Had Been Advised Not To Drive: Police

His level of intoxication led him to be told not to drive; the unlicensed driver is facing a felony DWI charge, police say.

GREENPORT, NY — A Greenport man charged with DWI had been advised not to drive due to his level of intoxication, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, Emmanuel Solis Torres, 36, of Greenport was arrested on 4th Street at 9:05 p.m. on Sunday and charged with driving while intoxicated, previous conviction within 10 years; using a vehicle without an interlock; driving without a license; operating a motor vehicle with BAC of .08 of 1%, prior; and a seat belt violation, police said.

Solis Torres was seen driving a 2002 VW wagon on 4th Street after previously being advised not get behind the wheel, police said. Solis Torres was given several field sobriety tests, which he subsequently failed, police said.

He was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters, and held for morning arraignment, police said.
