Man Charged With DWI Had Cocaine, Crashed Into Parked Car: Police

The man was driving while intoxicated and was found with cocaine after he hit a car on Route 25 in Southold, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A Lawrenceville, NJ man was arrested after he crashed into a parked car in Southold and was found to be driving while intoxicated while in possession of cocaine, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place on Friday at 11:52 p.m. on Route 25. Tony Issa, 32, was arrested and charged with DWI, first offense; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; and refusal to take a breath test, police said.

Issa was seen in a black Infinity sedan, heading east on Route 25 and failing to maintain his lane of travel, police said. Issa then hit the parked vehicle; he was found to be intoxicated, placed under arrest, and taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital by Southold Fire Department ambulance for treatment of a laceration to his right eye sustained during the crash, police said.

Issa was treated, released, and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters, police said. During processing, Issa was searched and found to have a clear plastic baggie that contained a tan, powdery substance, which tested positive for cocaine, police said.

He was held for morning arraignment, police said.
