Man Charged With DWI In Orient: Police
The Riverhead man swerved over the double yellow lines and into the opposite lane, police say.

ORIENT, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Orient Sunday night after he veered into the opposite lane, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 11:02 p.m. on Route 25. Jose Ortiz, 64, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense; aggravated DWI: per se, no prior; and driving left of pavement markings, police said.
Ortiz was driving a 2009 Nissan Murano near Truman's Beach when an officer observed his vehicle cross the double yellow lines and swerve into the eastbound travel lane, police said. A traffic stop was conducted and Ortiz was found to be intoxicated, police said.

He was placed under arrest, transported to Southold Town Police headquarters, processed, and held for arraignment, police said.
