Man Charged With DWI On Shelter Island After Crash: Police
He was arrested Saturday, police say.
SHELTER ISLAND, NY — A New York man was arrested on Shelter Island and charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash Saturday, police said.
According to Shelter Island police, the incident took place at 9:16 p.m.; after an investigation into the crash, Joseph Paul Lupo, 53, was found to be driving while intoxicated, police said. He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 of 1 percent; DWI; speed not reasonable or prudent; failure to stop; and moving from lane unsafely, police said.
He was held overnight, arraigned at Shelter Island justice court, and released on his own recognizance to return at a future date, police said.
