Man Flees From Police On Dirt Bike, Hides In Farm Field: Cops

He ran a red light and then drove west in the eastbound lane, police say.

CUTCHOGUE, NY — A Mastic Beach man was arrested after he tried to flee from a police officer in Cutchogue and led a chase into a farm field, police said.

Edward Vallone, 24, was arrested on March 17 at 2:32 p.m. on Route 25 in Cutchogue and charged with third degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and various traffic infractions, police said.

Vallone was driving a 1996 Yamaha YZ125 dirt bike with no helmet and heading east on Route 25 in Cutchogue, police said.

He failed to pull over for a marked police vehicle with its overhead lights and siren activated and continued east, passing several motorists and running a red light while turning left onto Cox Lane, police said.

He continued north to Route 48 and then proceeded westbound in the eastbound lane and then turned south into a farm field in an attempt to hide from police, police said.

He was located and arrested without incident near the bus depot on Depot Lane, police said. Vallone was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on cash bail to return to Southold Justice Court at a later date, police said. His motorcycle was towed from the scene and impounded at the Southold Town Police impound yard, police said.
