Man Found With Shotgun In Violation Of Court Order: Police

The unloaded 12-gauge double barreled shotgun was found during a traffic stop, police say.

AQUEBOGUE, NY — A Sag Harbor man was arrested in Aquebogue after he was found with a shotgun in violation of a court order, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, at 2:31 a.m., patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on Peconic Bay Blvd. just east of Meeting House Creek Road.

The driver, Benjamin J. Lehmann, 30, had an active order of protection stipulating that he was not to possess any firearms, police said. Further investigation revealed that Lehmann was in possession of an unloaded 12-gauge double barreled shotgun in violation of the court order, police said.

Lehmann was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal contempt, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and various vehicle and traffic infractions, police said.

Lehmann was processed and arraigned at Riverhead Justice Court, police said.
