A Southold man was hospitalized after an accident in Cutchogue on Thursday morning, according to Southold Town Police.
Giovani Ramos told police that his car broke down in the left westbound lane of Route 48 just east of Cox Lane at about 7 a.m. when another car hit his, according to police.
He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital via Suffolk County Police Department Aviation, police said.

One of the drivers was charged with unlicensed operation, but police did not specify which one.
