Man Injured After Crash With Tractor Trailer In Mattituck: PD

His vehicle was trapped under the tractor trailer, police say.

MATTITUCK, NY — A man was injured after a crash with a tractor trailer Sunday in Mattituck that left his vehicle trapped, police said.

The crash took place at 4:31 a.m. on Route 25 , just west of Elijahs Lane, when a Greenfield, MA man, 38, who was driving the tractor trailer and trying to back off Route 25 onto property belonging to a commercial establishment, was hit by a vehicle driven by a 32-year-old Speonk man, Southold Town police said.

The Speonk man's vehicle became trapped under the trailer; he had to be extricated from his vehicle and was taken by the Mattituck Fire Department to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

The incident is under investigation by the Southold Police Department's detective division and has so far been deemed non-criminal, police said.
