Man Knocks Down Utility Pole In Rollover Crash: Police
He was looking down at his GPS before the crash, police say.
GREENPORT, NY — A Mastic Beach man knocked down a utility pole in a rollover crash in Greenport recently, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place on Nov. 22 at 4:14 p.m. on Moores Lane when the driver, who was in a 2007 Nissan 350Z, crashed into the telephone, knocking it down; the vehicle came to rest on the roof.
He was able to exit the vehicle on his own and did not sustain any serious injuries, but was transported to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital by Greenport Fire Department rescue for precautionary reasons, police said.

The driver said he'd been looking down at this GPS prior to the crash; Route 48 was shut down temporarily until the vehicle could be towed away, police said.
