Man Seriously Injured In North Fork Crash

SOUTHOLD, NY — A Patchogue man was seriously injured in a single-car crash in Southold early Monday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the crash took place on Route 48 at 6:17 a..m. Jake Lipponer, 28, who was driving a white 2020 Honda Civic, crashed into a pole, sustaining serious injuries.

He was removed from the vehicle by the Southold Fire Department and first treated by a Stony Brook University Hospital first responder; he was then airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment, police said.

A GoFundMe was created to help Lipponer, who sustained multiple injuries and was in critical condition, organizers of the page said.

No charges were filed, police said.

The vehicle was towed to Southold Town Police impound and held for investigation; the cause of the crash is still under investigation, police said.
