Man Speeding 102 MPH Charged With DWI On North Fork: Police
He was going 102 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone, police say.
PECONIC, NY — An East Setauket man was charged with driving while intoxicated at 102 miles per hour in Peconic Sunday, police said.
According to Southold Town police, the incident took place at 4:16 p.m. on Route 48 near Cabots Wood Road when Brendan Duffy, 37, was seen heading east at 102 miles an hour in a 55 mile per house zone after making an unsafe lane change.
Duffy was stopped, found to be intoxicated, and arrested; he was charged with DWI, first offense; refusal to take a breath test; unsafe turn, failure to signal; driving without an inspection certificate; and speeding at more than 55 miles per hour, police said.

He was taken to Southold Town police headquarters where he held for morning arraignment, police said.
