Man Stole 11 Bags Of Oysters From Roadside Stand: Police

EAST MARION, NY — A Greenport man was arrested Wednesday and charged with stealing oysters, police said.

According to Southold Town police, Joseph Rhodes, 59, was arrested at 9:09 p.m. on Main Road in East Marion and charged with petty larceny.

Rhodes broke into a roadside oyster stand and fled by bicycle on Route 25, police said. He was found near Stirling Cemetery in Greenport with 11 bags of oysters taken from the stand, police said.

He was arrested, processed at police headquarters and released on an appearance ticket, police said.
