Man Stole From Shelter Island Resident's Bank Account: Police

The Greenport man was arrested this week, police say.

SHELTER ISLAND, NY — A Greenport man was arrested after accusations of stealing money from a Shelter Island resident's bank account, police said.

According to Shelter Island police, Thomas P. Ritzler, 51, was arrested on September 12 at 7:39 p.m. in Greenport and charged with second-degree forgery; second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument; and fourth-degree grand larceny.

He was arrested after an investigation into a complaint of money being stolen from someone's bank account, police said.

He was held overnight, arraigned in Shelter Island Justice Court, and released on an appearance ticket for return at a later date, police said.
