Man Swims To Shore After Boating Mishap: Cops
Police were able to gain control of the boat, which was going in circles in the water, authorities say.

GREENPORT, NY — A man swam to shore after having trouble on his boat in Greenport Friday, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident took place at 11:53 a.m. in the Peconic Bay opposite 4th Street in Greenport.
Southold Police received a report from a Shelter Island ferry boat operator of a vessel in distress and possibly a person in the water.

Marine units responded to Port Of Egypt, and then to the location; officers responded to the end of 4th Street to get a visual and located the victim, a 55-year old Greenport man, who had swum to shore, police said.
Greenport Fire Department responded and transported the man to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment. The marine unit and police were able to gain control of the vessel, which was doing circles approximately 100 yards off shore; the marine unit towed the vessel to shore and secured it to the dock, police said.
