Mattituck Boys' Soccer Team: County Champs Headed to Long Island Final

After Saturday's win against Center Moriches, the Mattituck Tuckers boys' soccer team will play Wheatley Wednesday night in Coram.

After a dramatic last-minute goal in overtime, theteam won 3-2 against longtime rivals Center Moriches for the county championship this past Saturday at Diamonds in the Pines park in Coram.

Now, the boys will head to the Pines again on Wednesday to battle Wheatley for the Long Island championship at 7 p.m. 

The boys started strong with two goals within the first half scored by Joe Pfaff and Kevin Ryer. Last year's state champions Center Moriches scored their second goal of the game with just over a minute remaining, bringing the game into overtime.

In the 100th minute of the game Andreas Aldaz, who has been a standout player all season for Mattituck, received a pass from Shawn Smiley and took a shot — which sailed past Center Moriches goalie, Jason Albert.

Aldez was quickly greeted on the field by his ecstatic team and Coach, Mat Litchult.

If the Tuckers win on Wedneday, they will be going upstate to compete for the state title.
