"The Mattituck Lions have an amazing track record of supporting projects on the North Fork and this important contribution is no exception."

NORTH FORK, NY — The Mattituck Lions Club has continued its mission of giving back: The group recently donated $10,000 for the purchase of a cutting edge respiratory device to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport.
A check for the Vaporther High Velocity Therapy 2.0 device was presented by Michael F. O’Donnell, Lions 1st vice president and CFO of Peconic Bay Medical Center, to Paul J. Connor, chief administrative officer at SBELIH.
“SBELIH is thrilled with this donation,” Connor said. “The Mattituck Lions have an amazing track record of supporting projects here on the North Fork and this important contribution is no exception.”

The HVT 2.0, which is ready to use in about five minutes, requires little patient coaching or staff intervention, plus offers mask-free support to patients experiencing a respiratory issue allowing them to eat, drink, talk, and take oral medications while receiving oxygenation.
The revolutionary device also has the potential to reduce hospital care costs by reducing ICU admissions, a release from the hospital said. A large, randomized trial showed that patients with mask-free non-invasive ventilation spent less time in the ICU than patients treated with nasal intermittent positive pressure ventilation, the hospital added.
