Missing Dog, Boo, Found Safe On North Fork
"I am just amazed at how the whole community mobilized to look for my dog. I am so thankful." — Joan Torkelsen.

SOUTHOLD, NY — It's a happy ending in Southold as a little missing dog, Boo, was found Thursday and is now home.
Boo, a 7-year old Havanese, went missing Monday from Summer Lane near Cedar Drive and Main Bayview Road in Southold.
And in the days since, a community rallied to bring Boo, just about 10 or 12 lbs., back safely.

"It's unbelievable," said Joan Torkelsen, Boo's owner. "I'm amazed at how the whole community mobilized to look for my dog. I can't believe it. Everyone in Southold was tracking this dog."
Boo was found by a student Thursday at about 1 p.m., Torkelsen said, adding that her dog, who is very nervous, was running when he saw people. However, he ended up in a fenced in yard, where he was found about a mile from her son's house. "He's so little and tiny," she said. "He was so scared."

The four days since Boo went missing have been filled with fear, Torkelsen said. "I started losing faith. I imagined him dying in the woods somewhere. I was so upset, crying all the time."
In fact, Torkelsen, who'd been away in Mexico, was trying to book a flight home early when her son called to say Boo had been f0und.
To the team of angels who searched for her pup, Torkelsen has a message: "I'm just amazed how everyone mobilized, looking for my little dog. I am so thankful to them that I can't even put it into words. Mailmen, school kids — everyone was looking. I am just so thankful."
