Man On Dirt Bike Injured In Southold Crash: Police

BREAKING: The crash took place just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A man on a dirt bike was injured after crashing on Main Bayview Road in Southold Saturday night, police said.

The crash, which took place at 7:12 p.m. on Main Bayview near Cedar Drive according to a police scanner, involved only the driver, Jonathan Gibson, 46, of Southold, police said.

Gibson was unregistered and uninsured, police said.

He was riding his dirt bike on Main Bayview Road when he lost control and fell off the dirt bike, "resulting in serious" injury, police said.

Southold Fire Department responded; Gibson was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County aviation, police said.

The crash closed a portion of Main Bayview for more than an hour; motorists were diverted to Waterview Drive.
