Moustache Brewing Co. To Quadruple Size In Riverhead

NORTH FORK, NY — It's big news from Moustache Brewing Co. in Riverhead: The business announced a major expansion on Facebook Live this week.

Owners — and husband and wife — Lauri and Matt Spitz said they have signed a lease on the rest of the industrial building, located at 400 Hallett Avenue, where their current facility is located — quadrupling their current space.

The space will go from its current 1,400 square feet to 5,600 square feet; the work is already underway and the new tasting room is expected to be unveiled in early 2018.

The pair first brewed their first home batch in September, 2005 and later, commenced a Kickstarter campaign in 2012 to open the brewery. They raised more than $31,000 in one month, they said.

Moustache Brewing Co. officially opened in April, 2014, with a one-barrel system, with crowds of fans meaning the business has continued to grow and expand, the Spitzes said. In June 2016, the business expanded to a seven-barrel brew house.

“We’re so lucky to have such loyal fans of our brewery,” said Matt. “We’ve seen craft beer drinkers from all over the world in our tasting room. In 2015, as a ‘thank you’ to our loyalists, we expanded our Growler-of-the-Month Club and created the ‘The newly acquired space will include a 1,200 sq. foot tasting room – which is nearly the size of the current brewery.

“Our fans are really looking forward to what’s to come in the new space,” Lauri said. “We’re so overwhelmed by all of the unbelievable support we continue to receive, and we’re thrilled to be welcoming in so many new members and faces during this exciting time. Because of their devotion to Moustache, we’re able to make this an even better space for the craft beer community to enjoy.”

The current brewery and public tasting room will remain open throughout renovations.

Moustache Brewery’s tasting room is open Thursday and Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
