No Bail For Man Who Allegedly Murdered Greenport Woman: Court

The Greenport home where the woman was murdered was also the site of a brutal machete attack in August 2016, police say.

GREENPORT, NY — A man, 23, charged in the murder of a 27-year-old woman who was found strangled to death inside her Greenport home Monday night was arraigned in Southold Town Justice Court Wednesday.

Jaime DeLeon-Tino was represented by an appointed attorney, Donald Mates. Based on the charges, he was remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility without bail, court records said. His next court appearance is set for July 21.

Southold Town Police found Michelle Schiavoni dead in her home at 325 2nd St. around 10 p.m. Monday.

Suffolk Police Homicide Squad detectives located DeLeon-Tino on Osborne Avenue in Riverhead Tuesday and charged him with second degree murder in Schiavoni's death, police said.

Police did not say if there was any relationship between Schiavoni and DeLeon-Tito.
