The building dates to 1850. It was once a post office and locals may also remember it as THE DOWN HOME STORE -&- was most recently home to home decor shop PHOEBE & BELLE. The beautiful, light-filled space was recently renovated and features an original post
office counter. (Legend has it that ALBERT EINSTEIN kept a Post Office box there while summering on Nassau Point.)
POPSICLE & FINN is the popular Greenport clothing boutique that closed on Front Street after Labor Day and is expected to reopen as part of the new NORTH FORK APOTHECARY in early October.
“Greenport was a great place to launch the business, but this is a bigger space that will allow the brands to breathe,” said owner STEPHANIE SACK, who opened POPSICLE & FINN in April 2021 {IN GREENPORT}. With a background in experiential marketing and large-scale event planning, STEPHANIE SACK also hopes to weave unique experiences into the new space, from book clubs and signings to beauty and wellness popups as she continues to build a sense of community around her store.
A full-time Cutchogue resident who was raised in Nassau County and has been coming to the North Fork with her family since the 1980s, STEPHANIE SACK said: “I was always fascinated by the building.This space holds such an important place in North Fork history
and it’s such an honor to be here.”
"In the new space, STEPHANIE SACK envisions a luxurious modern general store that will feature many of the clothing and accessory items from Popsicl & FINN with an expanded selection of beauty, skincare, wellness and home items" ~ STEPHANIE SACK also plans
to stock a curated selection of locally made jams and honeys PLUS specialty coffee with gear like Chemex coffee makers. She takes inspiration from DAVID ROSE, one of her favorite Schitt’s Creek characters who explains his vision for the fictional Rose Apothecary:
“It’s a general store, but it’s also a very specific store.”
STEPHANIE SACK is especially excited to introduce more skincare into the shop, from all-natural Caudalie products to cult skincare favorites like Susanne Kaufmann, FACE Stockholm and makeup by Jillian Dempsey.
Trendy eyewear by Caddis and clothing lines like Citizens of Humanity and Maison Hotel will also be carried at NORTH FORK APOTHECARY.
“My goal is for it to be a much calmer experience. I’m just so super excited to be in the space,” STEPHANIE SACK said.
