North Fork Chili Cook-Off Set For Sunday

Watch chefs from 9 local eateries face off for the title in the 3rd Annual North Fork Chili Cook-Off at Greenport Harbor Brewery in Peconic.

PECONIC, NY — The heat is on: On Sunday, Greenport Harbor Brewery presents its 3rd Annual North Fork Chili Cook-Off.

The event takes place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Greenport Harbor Brewery Tasting Room & Restaurant, located at 42155 Main Road in Peconic. Nine local eateries will compete for first place; this year’s participants include Grace & Grit, Little Creek Oysters, Ellen’s on Front, First & South, Industry Standard, Port, Lucharitos and Mattitaco. Chefs will be be vying for two awards: the Judge’s Choice Award plus the People’s Choice Award, voted upon by all those who come to the event.

Members of Greenport Brewery’s staff will also be participating with their own special chili recipes "and looking to beat out the others for the People’s Choice Award," a release said.

Judges this year include Chef Stephan Bogardus, executive chef at The Halyard Restaurant at Soundview in Greenport; Chef Cheryl Stair, chef and owner of the Art of Eating event planning in the Hamptons; Chef Lauren Lombardi, chef and owner of Lombardi’s Love Lane Market and catering in Mattituck; Chef Scott Bollman, chef and owner of Bruce & Son in Greenport; and Doug Gerowski, North Fork Chili Cook-Off People’s Choice Winner in 2018 and 2019.

In addition, GHBC's top brewer Pat Alfred will be releasing "The Hot Sauce" IPA, brewed with Thai bird chilis and organic lime juice.

Tickets cost $20 and include entry into the event plus chili samplings. They are available on-line
only here.

"Come try some incredible chili, have a beer and cast your vote!" organizers said.
