North Fork Home Sustains 'Heavy Damage' In Fire: Officials
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, officials say.

NEW SUFFOLK, NY — A New Suffolk home was badly damaged in a fire Tuesday night, officials said.
According to Southold Town Police, the fire broke out at 7:24 p.m. at a home on Old Harbor Road; black smoke was reported in the area.
The Cutchogue Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire; they were assisted by the Southold and Mattituck Fire Departments, police said.

The residence sustained heavy fire damage to the kitchen area, with heat and smoke damage throughout the rest of the residence, police said.
The Suffolk County Police Department's arson squad was requested to investigate; the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, police said.
