North Fork's 'Exploding' Deer Population Focus of Saturday Meeting
The meeting starts at 10 a.m. at the East Marion Firehouse.

NORTH FORK, NY - Deer continue to be one of the most critical issues facing North Fork residents — and on Saturday, the East Marion Community Association will gather to try and address the escalating issues.
"The Exploding Deer Population — What Can We Do About It?" is a meeting to be held at the East Marion Firehouse; refreshments will be served at 9:30 a.m. with the meeting to kick off at 10 a.m.
Guests are invited to learn the seven biggest myths about deer, the health and environmental damage and effective strategies for dealing with the herds.

Speakers include Amy Dries and Hazel Kahan of the North Fork Deer Management Alliance and Dave Dominy, co-chair of the Southold Town Deer Management Task Force.
The event is sponsored by the East Marion Community Association.

Local residents have long rallied to try and weigh solutions: In 2013, a meeting was organized by Orient and East Marion community members who said health, safety and environmental concerns demanded attention. Southold Town has also held numerous deer forums and engaged in a deer cull in recent years.
